Recently my husband brought me back a beautiful wall rug with the ka'abah on it (pictured above), from hajj. We have it up on our front sitting room wall. However, a couple of days back a sister came round, noticed it, and said that it wasn't allowed to put these rugs up on our walls, she said that one of the scholars had spoke about it, and mentioned a hadith, but she did not have the daleel to give me at the time.
For now I've left it up, but if anyone knows of the fatwa/hadith the sister was referring to, pls let me know, jazakumallaahu khairan.

I never heard that, only about hanging Quran verses and other calligraphy on the wall might be disliked...
But definately not if the rug (any photo) has any people on it.

Yeah that's what I said to the sister (heard about not hanging qur'an on the wall), ok jazakillaahu khairan anyway sis.
Assalamu alaikum,
Hanging rugs on the wall is fine. People used to do it (and in some remote places still do it) to help insulate their houses in winter. The only things to avoid in your rug are faces and anything depicting shirk symbols.
One thing that might worry about in having an image of the ka'aba on a a rug is that usually rugs are on the floor and we walk over them.
Yeah it was not of the Kabba but Qur'anic Verses. Because SOme people used them as protection Personaly I have 1 up but its never My purpose to hang it for Protection of the House. I had this when i had my Prayer Room. I put All my Islamic Things there To Remind me masha allah. I never put them up nothing more than a Reminder Hence the only one lol lol
Al-Ghariba & Umm Ismail - jazakillaahu khairan sisters for your responses. Insha Allaah the rug will stay up for now then, I'm still interested to hear the daleel from the sister though.
Asalaamu Alayki ukhti
this is mentioned in the book about Marriage by Shaykh Albaani not sure about the exact title; but I have it in my bookcase mashaAllaah. He says that it is not a good thing to hang rugs on the wall as decoration because it is wastefulness, similarly he says the same about curtains that use excessive fabric. There are several hadiths quoted and not all are mentioning rugs with images of people; you may want to check it out. The page numbers mentioning it are 50 and 51.
Jazakillaahu khairan ukhti, will check it out.
Es salamu alaikum
Just wondering did you ever find a daleel on hangng rugs on the wall??
Wa alaykum assalam,
